Instruction

Chorus students at Lost Mountain Middle School use Auralia and Musition to learn ear-training skills and music theory.

These software programs allow our students to login with an individual account. When a student logs in, all progress is graded and saved on a server. This way, any time a student logs in from any computer, all the individual information automatically appears. Students can practice and complete quizzes and tests from school or home.

Students are allowed to download and intall these two very powerful programs for free.

Use the links below to download and install. Anyone can install the software as many times as desired; however, the software will only work if you have an account. The LMMS Choral Department has already paid for all student accounts.

To login, a student must enter a username, password. The school code is LMMSGA.

Each program offers lessons and practice drills on a variety of topics. Tests are listed in the "custom test" category. Current topics and tests are listed on Edmodo. Students should practice skills for the assigned topics and take the test on those topics when ready. All students must score at least 80% on all tests. Students are allowed to take a test multiple times until 80% mastery is acheived. Additionally, students may take the test as many times as they want to try to earn the highest score possible. Students are encouraged to score at least a 90% or achieve a perfect score! The highest score earned from multiple attempts will count for a grade. If a student has completed all assigned tests, he or she may look at the list of tests and explore the next topic or other topics of their choice.

IPA stands for International Phonetic Alphabet. They are those funny looking letters that tell you how to pronounce something when you look it up in a dictionary. You can imagine how important this is to a singer who sings in several different languages! If you want to know what they look and sound like, go to the Listening Lab from Alfred's IPA Made Easy to hear what they sound like!
